Welcome to Toy Box Counselling Limited Why Play Therapy?
Because for a child, toys are their words and play is their language.

Because for a child, toys are their words and play is their language.
For many parents the idea of "just playing" can feel a bit confusing. However, play is not a break from therapy,
play is the therapy.
Here at Toy Box Counselling we strive to help children build emotional resilience, develop coping skills, and heal through safety. Our playroom is a safe haven allowing children to process trauma, divorce, anxiety, or school stress at their own pace.
Taking the first step is a sign of strength.
Here is how we walk the path together:
1. Application and consultation
Before I meet your child, we sit down together. This is a dedicated time for you to share your concerns, your child's history and your goals for your family. We work as a team from day one.
2. The Assessment phase
For the first few sessions I focus on building a safe haven for your child. I observe how they play, what toys they choose, and how they express themselves. This helps me tailor a therapeutic plan specifically for their unique personality.
3. The Play Sessions
This is where the magic happens! Your child will lead the way in our fully stocked playroom. Whether they are building a fort, role-playing with puppets or expressing themselves through art, they are working through their challenges in their most natural state.
4. Parent check-ins
You will not be left in the dark. We will meet periodically to discuss themes appearing in the playroom and -- most importantly -- to give you practical Toy Box tools you can use at home to support your child's progress.
The Spring session will run for 10 weeks from April 13, 2026 to June 20, 2026.
The Fall sessions will begin August 24 and run until October 31, 2026.
Your child will have 10 weekly sessions that are 50 minutes in length.
Playtimes will take place on Tuesday or Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings, keeping your time slot consistent from week to week.
The cost for each play therapy appointment is $180.
I will honour your child's confidentiality, as long as there is no danger to them or to others.
